Concerned about the condition of your favorite trail or park? Would you like to be involved with improving trails and parks in the Fairbanks area? Here’s how you can help!
The Interior Alaska Trails and Parks Foundation (IATPF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that’s made possible by contributions and donations from local Alaskans like you. These donations are used for developing and maintaining public recreation trails and park facilities in the greater Fairbanks area.
Our volunteer Board of Directors relies entirely on donations to fund trail and park work. Alaska’s trails and parks are critical to all we do: hunting, fishing, homesteading and recreational activities that are enjoyed by Alaska's diverse user groups. Our goal is to commit money to trail building and maintenance, and sustaining our park’s critical needs throughout interior Alaska. We directly fund work for trails and parks, and user-directed projects via grants.
Here are some examples of how IATPF has been helping improve our Alaskan trails and parks:
Partnering with Federal, State and Borough land management agencies to advocate for trail access.
Contracting brush clearing along the race trails at the Alaska Dog Mushers Hall.
Partnering with the Bureau of Land Management to clear brush on the Table Top Mountain Trail in the White Mountains NRA.
Organizing volunteers to install boardwalk on the Pinnell Mountain Trail for the Bureau of Land Management.
Organizing volunteer trail projects for trail maintenance, such as providing trail tools, lunches, snacks, etc.
Working with the Alaska Division of Forestry to develop a multi-use trail system from reclaimed logging roads in Rosie Creek.
Funding local user-initiated projects through a grants program.
