Mission
The Interior Alaska Trails and Parks Foundation advocates to develop, maintain and promote a year-round trails and parks system for the greater Fairbanks area and beyond. The Foundation will promote cooperation between all users of trails and parks in our community
Execution of Mission
The Foundation may undertake any programs or projects deemed appropriate and advisable by the Board of Directors, the duly appointed members of the Foundation, and, when necessary, coordinate with the appropriate user groups, and local, state, or federal officials for furthering the purposes set forth herein. To the fullest extent allowable by law and these Articles of Incorporation, the Foundation may operate as a nonprofit corporation for charitable, educational, or scientific purposes (within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954) related to the purposes stated herein, including, but not limited to, receiving contributions in any form and holding and distributing such contributions for the benefit of the community.
In furtherance of the Foundation’s general purposes, the Foundation will coordinate or otherwise aid the expeditious completion of user-group- driven projects and provide opportunities for partnerships with community organizations and volunteers desiring to contribute to the development or maintenance of trails and parks, new or ongoing conservation, recreation, or other programs, special events, facilities, or services.
a. To receive gifts, legacies, and other devices to be used for developing, maintaining and integrating a system of trails, park lands, programs, facilities, and services within the greater Fairbanks area and beyond.
b. To support continued development and implementation of a formalized trail management plan that engages a variety of user groups and educate users in the requirements and responsibilities of users within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. The Foundation will also, endeavor to educate the public on the locations of trails, trail heads and trail etiquette of multi-use trails.
c. To promote, publicize, and encourage better understanding, appreciation, and support for public trails and parks and their basic values including health, economic, and environmental benefits that accrue to the overall quality of life within the greater Fairbanks area and beyond.
d. To provide sustainable financial support and assistance to build and improve existing and future trails, parks, programs, services, and facilities in our area.
e. To provide support, assistance and coordination of the activities offered by user groups, non- profits and agencies who provide programs, services and maintenance of trails and park facilities within greater Fairbanks area and beyond.
f. To receive, hold title to, administer, sell, lease, or otherwise dispose of real and personal property or interests therein; to use said property or the proceeds thereof to further the purposes of the Foundation set forth above.
g. To transfer title to real property or any interest therein or other assets which it may hold from time to time to any governmental agency or other suitable agency which is duly authorized and able to receive and administer the same for the purposes set forth above.
h. To do any and all lawful activities that may be necessary, useful, or desirable for the furtherance or accomplishment of the purposes of the Foundation, either directly or indirectly and either alone or in conjunction or cooperation with others, whether such others be persons or organizations of any kind or nature, such as corporations, firms, associations, trusts, institutions, foundations, or governmental bureaus, departments, or agencies.
